PETROLEUM ENGINEERING

Dr J Roger Hite has been author or co-author on three papers dealing with EOR management.

“Managing Offshore EOR Projects”, J Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group, gave the keynote address at the Offshore IOR Summit in Houston on November 19, 2008. In this presentation, offshore experience with EOR was reviewed and recommendations were made on how to further expand offshore applications.

“Planning EOR Projects” by J Roger Hite, SPE, Business Fundamentals Group, S M (Sam) Avasthi, SPE, Avasthi & Associates, and Paul L Bondor, SPE, BonTech, was presented at the International Petroleum Conference in Mexico, Puebla, Pue., Mexico, November 7-9, 2004 as SPE paper 92006. This article was also published in the March 2005 issue of the Journal of Petroleum Technology.

“Planning EOR Projects in Offshore Oil Fields”, by Dr. Paul L Bondor, BonTech, Dr. J Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group, and Dr. S M (Sam) Avasthi, P.E., Avasthi & Associates, Inc., was presented at the 2005 SPE Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 20 – 23 June 2005 as SPE paper 94637.

Business Fundamentals Group and CWC Associates jointly prepared a workshop on “Making EOR a Reality”. The Workshop was held in London on December 2, 2003.

In additions Dr J Roger Hite was co-author on a SPE paper and a JPT article on the definition of EOR and IOR.

“The Alphabet Soup of IOR, EOR and AOR: Effective Communication Requires a Definition of Terms”, by George J. Stosur, Petroleum Consultant; J. Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group; Norman F. Carnahan, Carnahan Corporation; Karl Miller, Consultant, was presented at the SPE International Improved Oil Recovery Conference in Asia Pacific held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 20–21 October 2003, as SPE Paper 84908. That article was published as a guest editorial in the June, 2003 issue of the Journal of Petroleum Technology.

DIGITAL ENERGY

“How the Digital Oilfield Improves Production”, J Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group, spoke at the Petroleum Industry Experts Lecture Serices Luncheon, sponsored by Halliburton, at the University of Houston, College of Technology on November 10, 2008.

“Preparing a Business Case”, J Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group, Kemal Farid, Merrick Systems, and Lee Blanton, along with other members of the SPE Real Time Optimization Technical Interest Group, presented at the SPE ATCE in San Antonio, 24-27 September, 2006 as SPE paper 103248. This paper was also published in the December 2006 issue of the Journal of Petroleum Technology.

“An Information Resource for Water Management solutions”, J Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group, David Shaw, Knowledge Resources and John Warren, Halliburton, presented at the SPE ATCE in San Antonio, 24-27 September, 2006 as SPE paper 102497.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

“Corporate Culture” This article was published in the January issue of the Journal of Petroleum Technology.

 "Overcoming Barriers to Adopting BPM Software"   Business Process Management (BPM) software has the potential to greatly improve both the efficiency and the effectiveness of an organization. Perhaps more importantly, it has the potential to greatly reduce the mistakes that result from poor communication and coordination. Even with this tremendous capability, the rate of adoption in the energy business seems slow.  Why is this? This article describes the barriers that are often encountered  in adopting Business Process Management (BPM) software and suggests effective ways to overcome each of the barriers.
